At present, there is growing scientific evidence supporting the numerous health benefits associated with adopting a dietary pattern based on the principles of the Mediterranean Diet (MD). Among its distinctive features, the use of olive oil—especially extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)—as the main source of fat stands out, as its consumption has been repeatedly linked to better health outcomes in various scientific studies.

The 6th International Congress on Olive Oil, Olive Growing, and Health will stand as a major international scientific event, focused on the study of virgin olive oils, olive cultivation, and their impacts on both human health and the environment. The upcoming edition of the International Congress on Olive Oil, Olive Growing, and Health will take place in June 2026 in the city of Jaén. The event is organized by the University of Jaén’s Institute for Olive and Olive Oil Research, with the financial support of the Provincial Council of Jaén.

This edition will have an enhanced international dimension, as it will be held jointly with the Symposium on Nutrition and OMICS, a leading scientific meeting organized since 2015 by Professors Frank B. Hu (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health) and Miguel A. Martínez-González (University of Navarra / Harvard University). The symposium focuses on the latest advances in nutritional research and omic sciences.

This joint congress will bring together a distinguished international scientific community, public health experts, researchers in nutrition, metabolomics, and epidemiology, as well as professionals from the agri-food sector. Its main goal is to promote scientific knowledge about the role of olive oils—especially extra virgin olive oil—in the prevention of chronic diseases and their impact on global health, sustainability, and the Mediterranean food culture.

The three main areas of focus of the symposium will be:

• Mediterranean Diet and Olive Oil in Health Promotion
  Analysis of the role of the Mediterranean diet and extra virgin olive oils (EVOO) in the prevention of cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and cancer-related diseases.
• Nutrition and Omic Sciences: Focus on Metabolomics
  Application of metabolomics in nutritional research to better understand the biological impact of dietary interventions.
• Prospective Cohorts and Risk of Chronic Diseases
  Evidence from long-term cohort studies linking nutrition to the prevention of 21st-century chronic diseases.

• 5 awards for participants from Europe: 300 € each
• 5 awards for participants from other continents: 600 € each
